In India there are n number of religions, caste, creed etc. Each set having their own customs, cultures and traditions. Most, if not all the groups have been formed on the basis of whom they worship. The subcastes were originally created based on the nature of the work people did, which does not have any relevance as on today, since none of them is currently doing what each subcaste originally did. Another religion is slowly evolving based on their work and it is high time that we accept that as a caste or religion whatever it may be. No, I am not a fundamentalist, trying to create a new religion.
The new religion is 'IT' (Information Technology), the God can be a "Computer", (ENIAC seems a better choice) and the human gods can be Bill Gates, Richard stallman etc under whom subcastes can also be formed.
There is a place in India whose culture, traditions etc has been completely transformed over a period of a decade or two by the invasion of people from all over India, with different backgrounds, but united only to do the same kind of work. This happened in the IT capital of India, Bengaluru (erstwhile Bangalore).
Just visit Bengaluru and you can understand what I mean. The Bengaluru localites are no where to be seen. Only tie clad gentlemen and formally dressed up ladies are seen during day times. Cabs ferrying IT workforce zooming around as if there is no tomorrow.
Stay and work in Bengaluru and you will also start to look like one among them, whatever be your previous cultural, religious or territorial background. The good thing is that the people who live here loves this place just as much they love their homeland. Here people are not conservative anymore. Ladies can move around during night with no fear (This is not possible in most of the places in India, thanks to the great respect for woman).
All this has resulted in propping up of lot of avenues for entertainment too. Pubs, malls, multiplexes, eateries and other hang outs are seen everywhere. Resort people saw a business oppurtunity and many new ones sprang up with lot of aritificial landscaping and wave pools in an attempt to make up for the lost landscape and the absence of coast line. Club Cabana, Confident cascade (Click here to make an virtual tour), Guhanthara etc being the favorite among the techies. Then there is the film city (Click here to make an virtual tour), wonderla etc to make your day full of fun and enjoyment.
The beautiful Leela Palace Hotel also has a hang out place with gaming malls, antique shopping centre etc and is open to public. (Click here to make an virtual tour).
During one of my visits I chanced upon to see a beautiful building, standing out from the rest of cult. It was structurally marvellous, innovatively engineered and was really standing tall.
My bro and family who is now part of Bengaluru cult cleared my doubt. It is the office of one of the most famous and glamorous personalities in India. The office of United Breweries functioned here. No wonder the creator of "King of Good Times" has created another marvel here. I was surprised to know that this is open to public and there are lot of eateries inside it.

Watch this and drool for sometime
Without an after thought we ventured inside. Our gang was also pretty big which included, my bro and family, my co brother and family and my family. Many people had gathered there. The first time visitors could easily be identified since their jaws were somewhere near the ground watching the building from outside and trying to click as many pictures as they can.
Watch this closely and we cannot blame the first timers.
Inside it has a huge built up area and the main hall was as good as a big stadium. This sort of truss work is needed to keep such a big roof intact.
Step inside and quickly one will feel as if he is inside a palace. The interior decoration is quite tastefully done keeping an eye for details.
To know what I mean, just watch these lamp shades.
This comes a very close second to the marvellous Leela Palace Hotel.
This place is bustling with activity especially outside this marvellous building. No wonder they named it the "UB City". A lots of eateries are opened up here and the place definitely looks like a city.
This is the city bar, and it seems to be a theme based party hall with a DJ. Lots of noise were coming from inside and people were just letting foot loose to the tunes set by the DJ.
The chinese restaurant nearby showed how much effort has gone to make the theme. The roof of the small building housing this restaurant made this place looked like it was air lifted straight from Beijing.
Amidst the colorful crowd and beautiful lightings a wonderful sculpture caught my attention. It was really huge and the lights focussed on it was just perfect like the flowing lines of the beautiful sculpture. Just watch it for sometime and you sure will feel a sense of calmness. Kudos to the crafter who created a sculpture which talks..
A lot of other international chain of restaurants are around and almost all of them were filled to the capacity.
This place seemed to be one of the favourite weekend hangouts for the IT folks. The crowd here is very lively and colourful. More and more interesting things seemed to be propping out wherever we take a look. Watch this beautiful bridge between buildings
This place turned out to be a surprise package. I had not previously heard about this and that made the visit more sweet. The hardworking IT workforce definitely needs places like this to keep them upbeat and business folks are coming up with innovative set ups to keep them entertained thereby keeping their money bells ringing too.
Another advantage of visiting places like this is to satisfy the auto enthusiast mind inside me, coz there are no dearth of hot exotics in the parking lot.
Just watch this drool maal.
All in all another evening well spent :)

I like the UB City basement the most. You get to see (and even peep into in awe) some of the most amazing cars -- you really dont get to see these in any other mall in Blore :D
btw, i don't quite agree with all you've written about Blore :D You live here and you'll definitely see the locals a lot. they'll ensure they're seen/heard. and women being safe at night...not really. i've been told by one local here that karnataka is the most cultural state in india. i've been forced not to agree, with a nummmmber of incidents that has happened to me/friends. :D
hey scorpria
Thanks for giving the true facts. I know bangalore only from my occassional visits there :).
But lot of developments on infrastructure side is happening. Right now I'm in bangalore and saw a new flyover near KR Puram, a big mall - phoenix.
Sad to hear that you/friends has got lots of bad incidents here too.
